The 1980s: Neon, Memphis, and Arcade
The 1980s were characterized by vibrant colors, geometric shapes, and the rise of digital technology. Key styles included the Memphis Design movement (‘groovy’ and squiggles), Synthwave/Retrowave (neon, chrome, and grids), and the Arcade or aesthetic (pixelated and high-tech). Grunge fonts also go their start in the late 1980’s but were really popularised in the 1990s.
