- About Study
- Study’s point of departure was a hand-painted alphabet published by Czech-American engraver, illustrator, and designer Rudolph Ruzicka in 1968. Squarish counterforms combine with a warm, subtly calligraphic finish to create a lively textual rhythm on page and screen. This limpid, focused, somewhat bookish family abounds with captivating details: the upward gesture of the capitals’ horizontal finials, the notched crossbars in the roman styles, the sinewy limbs of ‘k’, the oblique half-serifs emerging from the bottoms of descenders—such traits make Study a distinctive option for larger settings like headlines and titles, while keeping body text dynamic and readable.
