About Équivoque
Équivoque is a monospace sans serif for display use. Its biggest feature is the unified diacritic shape, which is the result of the designer’s observation in the non-English vernacular lettering and typography where cedillas can be just dots and dieresis can be just a bar; the exact shapes of diacritics do not seem as important so long as they appear where they’re expected. This gave him the hypothesis that people rely on their knowledge and context more than shape, which was tested and proven right (also in diacritics-heavy languages like Vietnamese). Even in genuine moments of confusion, it is hopefully apparent that this typeface is not being serious.
