About Hothouse
Hothouse was designed in 2001 for The Glasgow School of Art and is still used by the university. It’s inspired by Charles R. Mackintosh’s (1868—1928) explorations of letterforms, renown architect of The Glasgow School of Art. Based on a square the (almost entirely) mono-spaced Hothouse corresponds well with Mackintosh’s art nouveau architecture. This is an updated version of the original, which we expanded into a versatile display font family with multiple weights, an extended character set, interchangeable upper and lower case characters and a set of alternate glyphs, providing great typographic variety. Nice: Hothouse won a Bukvaraz award from the Association Typographique Internationale.
