- About Puffery
- The capitals of the Blackletter, or Fraktur genre perplex modern readers, familiar as we are with the letter forms of Ancient Rome, epitomized on Trajan’s column. With legibility in mind, type designers have, over the years, created hybrid Fraktur capitals, Romanized to varying degrees, and such is the case with Puffery, quite thoroughly in fact—more so than in other variants of the “Old English” genre. Consequently, one of the more exotic Textura styles becomes perfectly acceptable for all-cap settings. There is also a Vintage Capitals version of Puffery, with the classic capitals, so that the relative merits of authenticity and readability may be addressed, according to the job in hand.
