- LD Fabiol Pro is an impressive Renaissance-Antiqua with particular qualities. When designing the typeface, Robert Strauch followed a fairly simple concept: «I wanted to draw inspiration from Renaissance prints rather than sticking to one specific typeface and creating a historically correct revival.» The lettershapes of Fabiol Pro are consequently based on the work of a number of early punchcutters and represent a contemporary reinterpretation of the oldstyle antiqua. As a model for the look of the new digital typeface Strauch chose not the sharp-edged punches or matrices but the mostly rough and vibrant prints. This approach retained the honest charm of letterpress printing on moist paper.
