- About False Idol
- False Idol is based on bad rub-down lettering from 1970s pornographic magazines and homemade religious leaflets. Letterforms that were intended to mimic a feeling of cheap glamour or the word of God, but just seemed outside ‘good taste’ and bizarrely creative. Somehow an alluring beauty emerges from this naive mix of sleaze and authority to create something strangely intense and pleasurable to the eye.
