- About Wayfarer
- The origins of Wayfarer lie the Granby typeface developed by Stephenson Blake during the 1930s; itself reminiscent of the Underground typeface designed by Edward Johnston. Wayfarer develops elements of this face, but also some of the idiosyncratic qualities seen in the grotesque types of the latter half of the 19th century. There are some niche details such as the diamond dot over the i and j, and superior capitals – included as a nod to a piece of period typography, where superior small capitals appear in contractions on old street signs and company names. The family consists of 12 fonts with a character set that allows for detailed typography across a wide range of languages.
